Abstract

The article deals with some peculiarities of Bulgarian dialects in the South of Odessa Region. The author proves that usage of linguistic idioms in speech of Ukrainian Bulgarian communities varies and depends on many parameters: education, social status, age, place of residence, social origin. The heterogeneity of the linguistic situation in places of compact residence of Bulgarians is characterized by the presence of related and unrelated language formations: the Romanesque group is represented in Moldavian, Slavic in Russian and Ukrainian, Turkic in Gagauz. Case-law phenomena (texts, statements, situations, names) in many cases are common to foreign-language individuals of Bessarabia and the carriers of Bulgarian dialects, in connection with the fact that in most spheres of life, in addition to family-household and production in the countryside, Bulgarians use Russian or Ukrainian languages.
