Abstract

Socio-economic and political specifics of development of modern Ukrainian society has formed the necessary for openness in the international communication and influenced educational policy in general and the study of foreign languages ​​inparticular. A distinctive feature of today's period is the need to rethink the global goal, on the resolution of which is oriented language learning as a means for effective intercultural contacts. Learning a foreign language based on acquainting students with the culture of another country is currently one of the basic principles of teaching subject.

Introduction to the culture of another nation not only makes learning a foreign language more attractive to students, but also promotes full communication, more accurate and adequate understanding of the carriers of this culture, it contributes toformation of the ability to represent your country in intercultural communication. The article deals with the main issues related to the role of sociocultural competence in learning a foreign language. The main purpose of learning a foreign language is to form communicative competence, i.e. abilities and readiness of the student for international and intercultural communication. Therefore, it is so important to know about the socio-cultural aspects of the life of people in the foreign country.
