Abstract

The interwar period for Romania was marked by a dynamic demographic change. This fact is reflected both at the state level and at the level of territorial administrative units within the Romanian state. The topic at issue shows interest because a number of territories from Romania before 1918 belonged to other states. In fact, the county Ismail was under the rule of the Russian Empire prior to 1918. Based on this perspective, it is sometimes quite difficult to analyze the demographic evolution of the county prior to the unification with Romania. Along with unification of Romania there is the need to make a number of demographic studies of territories which became the part of the Kingdom. As the result were performed a number of demographic studies both at the country and county level. The studies in question were reflected in official bulletins counties and in the publication of general censuses made in the 1930s and 1941. Doing an analysis of these sources we can make an analysis of the demographic evolution of the county Ismail at all aspects (ethnic, by age, occupation, etc.).
