Abstract

Sustainable development through sustainable tourism perspective represents a way forward where the future generations would benefit from the same current preserved and perpetuated values. Tourism is still for Romania a development alternative in the coming period. Sustainable tourism resources belong, for the most part, to the natural environment. Therefore relationships are established between the natural environment and tourist activities and they can influence both positive and negative environmental impacts, modifying its components.

Based on these considerations, this paper aims at determining how the tourism products should be designed to comply with the principles of sustainability by addressing to unique tourism products. They should be designed based on the existing conditions, culture, people and places, sustained by hospitality, interest, motivation and aspiration for improving, which will lead to the development of truly sustainable tourism.
