Abstract

Recently, researchers' interest in the problems of intercultural communication, cultural linguistics and national mentality has been growing. The relationship between language and culture plays an important role in this process. It is necessary to consider the formation of intercultural communicative competence in the process of teaching Russian and Ukrainian in the framework of the cultural universal «food». The article is devoted to the analysis of the ethnocultural concept «food» based on the phraseological units of the Russian and Ukrainian languages, on the basis of which it is concluded that phraseological units, carrying information about the world and society, are the guardians of the culture of the people. The research is carried out on lexicographic material with the involvement of ethnolinguistic and etymological sources. The author comes to the conclusion that the concept of «food» is a complex mental formation, in which certain features can be identified that partially coincide and intersect in Russian and Ukrainian linguistic cultures.
