The 1947 Peace Treaty, signed by Romania and the victorious states in World War II, represented the natural consequence of the 1946 Paris Peace Conference. The position of the Romanian state towards the Peace Conference, in which the main objectives of the Romanian delegation were formulated, was that of recognizing the status of co-belligerent, the repatriation of Romanian prisoners of war, the improvement of military provisions, maintaining the amount of reparations at the level established by the Armistice Convention, the recognition of Romania's borders as they were established at that time, complete freedom in trade policy and the elimination of the obligation to grant the most-favoured-nation clause for all the United Nations.
