Last modified: 2024-07-22
Abstract
The context determined by the social distancing caused by the SARS-COV-2 Pandemic has changed the functioning mechanism of the entire pre-university and university education system both in Romania and globally. The approach of this paper aims to show that, with the SARS-COV-2 pandemic, the educational environment had to adapt to significant digital changes, creating a peak in the development of new technologies necessary for the educational system. The aim of this paper is to analyze Romania's contribution to the digitization of education in the university environment, and in this direction will be subject to European trends and the influence they had on the national situation. The year 2020 was the defining year for the transformation of university education to online, regardless of the degree of digitization that existed prior to this. Adapting to an online learning system implies the continuation of the learning system in the online university space and this forced the learning system to adapt to the creation of platforms or clusters used for teaching and extracurricular and research activities organized within the higher education institution. This analysis helped to understand the structure through which this sudden digitization developed and the public policy premises on which the process was built. The analysis was combined with the presentation of the projects carried out during this period, with the aim of preparing the various school actors in the field of digital education in the form of recommendations to support the processes of empowerment in the formation of digital competences of teachers and students in the current and long-term context.
