Last modified: 2025-07-16
Abstract
The objectives of the research are to highlight the essential role of emotional intelligence in the training and development of students in the field of choreography; to argue the importance of emotional intelligence for choreographic education, confirmed by the university curriculum in choreographic art for higher education institutions, which emphasizes the need to develop emotional skills in students. In our research, we aim to demonstrate how emotional skills influence artistic performance, stage communication, and the psycho-emotional balance of dancers.
Previous studies present the authors' views on the interdependence between emotional intelligence and educational processes in the arts, with an emphasis on emotional self-regulation, emotion management, empathy, and motivation, which are essential concepts in choreographic education. These studies support the integration of emotional skills into the arts education curriculum.
Approach: scientific substantiation of research results by describing the main approaches to emotional intelligence for choreographic education using qualitative research methods, observation, and case studies applied in choreographic education contexts.
Research results: description of psychobehavioral traits that determine the formation of reflexive and expressive skills in art. The development of emotional intelligence contributes to the adaptation of students in stage activity and to the improvement of relationships within the artistic group.
Implications: The study provides strategic directions for teachers, researchers, and educational decision-makers to optimize artistic training programs; it provides arguments on the importance of emotional intelligence for choreographic education, and makes recommendations on the development of these skills relevant to dance teachers and the success of dance teacher training in higher education. The study examines how arts programs contribute significantly to the development of emotional intelligence by promoting self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills. In addition, choreographic education strategies are discussed as methods of supporting the development of emotional intelligence through dance.
The value of the research lies in its innovative approach to integrating emotional intelligence into choreographic education, offering a valuable interdisciplinary perspective by addressing the emotional skills necessary for the personal and professional success of dancers.
