Collaborative and Digital Approaches to Content for Developing 21st Century Competencies
Last modified: 2025-07-20
Abstract
After the first two decades of the 21st century, current society is heading in two directions, observable through changes in the labor market as a result of digitalization, in addition to the large quantity of information, facts, and opinions that society must cope with. Educational systems need to focus on shaping adaptable individuals by developing competencies that allow them to grow and benefit from social and economic progress. Among the competencies of the current century, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving, communication, and creativity (the 4Cs) can be highlighted. These will enable individuals to select optimal content, while digitalization and artificial intelligence will form the basis of design and implementation, leading to a path of human development, generating new jobs, and personalizing education, but not replacing it.
