A practical application on the Benford model in identifying the risk of fraud

Abstract

In fraudulent investigation techniques, the financial auditor can use in identifying suspicious tendencies within the audited information, often some accessible analytical tools, such as applying the Benford model. The paper presents, besides a brief explanatory exposition, a practical application in the field of capital market. The topic is within the context of ISA 240 - "Auditor's Responsibilities for Fraud in an Audit of Financial Statements."
