Abstract
The concern for child protection has long crossed national borders and is a concern of the entire international community. Over time, legal documents have been adopted at the international and regional levels, mechanisms have been created to monitor state compliance with commitments, international and regional strategies have been developed that suggest concrete actions to protect all children, all these are important milestones in the joint action of international actors for strengthening the rights of the child. However, millions of children continue to suffer threats and violations of their rights. We will highlight in this paper the achievements of the international community regarding the implementation of international standards in the field of children's rights, but we will also look for the causes of the inability to reach the maximum potential of the impressive international legal construction for child protection. For the elaboration of the paper we have used as research methods the analysis of problems generated by the mentioned subject with reference to doctrinal views expressed in treaties and papers, the documentary research, the interpretation of legal norms in the matter.
