Legal Framework of Mechanisms for Identifying Corruption Risks and Preventing Corruption in Public Institutions in the Republic of Moldova

Abstract
The fight against corruption has become a much stronger commitment for the Republic ofMoldova with the granting of candidate status to the European Union in June 2022 andthe opening of accession negotiations in December 2023. In the Action Plan for theimplementation of the measures proposed by the European Commission in its Opinion onMoldova's application for membership of the European Union, nine measures have beenformulated, of which measure no. 3 provides for the fulfilment of the commitment tofight corruption. However, eradicating corruption is not only about fighting it, butprevention is also an essential component. In the context of the commitments undertakenthrough accession to international instruments to prevent and combat corruption, anti-corruption policies in the Republic of Moldova have evolved considerably in the last fewyears. Since the adoption of the Law on Integrity No 82/2017, the field of integrity in thepublic sector at political, institutional and professional levels has taken shape, with 14measures regulated to ensure a climate of institutional integrity.
