IOAN ALEXANDRU (born September 28, 1939), PhD, is University Professor in administrative law, Head of the Law Department/Chair of the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration, Romania. He is also PhD studies supervisor in administrative law, since 2001. Professor Ioan Alexandru has combined his scientific activity with the didactic one, but also with the activities resulting from his being member of various organisms, like: vice-president of the Law Board of the Romanian National Council for the Attestation of Academic Titles, University Diplomas and Certificates; member of the Executive Board of the Bucharest Union of Jurists; president of the Public Law Board of the Romanian Union of Jurists; member of the  International Jacque Maritain Institute of Rome; collaborator of the E.I.P.A. of Maastricht and NISPAcee, Bratislava; president and founder of the Romanian institute of Public Administration; vice-president of the Episcop Grigorie Leu Foundation; member of the editorial board of the Public Law Journal edited by the Institute of Administrative Sciences "Paul Negulescu" of Romania. Professor Ioan Alexandru was awarded a whole series of diplomas and prizes, such as: "For Merit" National Order in rank of Grand officer (Decree no. 161/22.11.2002 issued by Romania's President); Diploma awarded by the Center for Information and Social Improvement on Behalf of the European House, Denmark - 1998; Diploma awarded by the Romanian National Institute of Management - 1997; the Paul Negulescu Prize for the textbook "Treatise of Public Administration" - 2008; the Mircea Manolescu Prize for the textbook "Politics, Administration, Justice" - 2004; the Victor Dan Zlătescu Prize for the textbook "Comparative Administrative Law" - 2003; the Anibal Teodorescu Prize for the textbook "European Politico-Administrative Systems" - 2007, etc.
