The role of media in community development

Abstract

This work aims to present the approaches of the community development by differents means of mass comunication and, of the establishment of certain rules for addressing this issue, including the approach frequency of this problem.

The study material includes the newspaper articles from Viata Libera, published on a period of one month and, using sociological methods (the content analysis), it examines the articles on community development.

During the research, it took into account the main guiding marks of the community development, relating to: the citizen involvement in identifying the community problems and in decision making, the establishment of mechanisms for the poverty alleviation and for the social capital creation, the fundraising and the attraction of foreign investments, the efforts cooperation of the community actors (NGOs, public authorities, economic agents and others) and the creation of the community and inter-community partnerships.
