Abstract

This article briefly addresses the analysis of certain factors that determine the failure of tourism projects. Currently, tourism is one of the most developing and promising sectors of the world economy, creating a total of around 10% of the world’s national product, 7% of investment and 11% of consumer spending.Every year, a large number of people travel from one point of the globe to another. Due to the development of tourism in the country’s economy, a number of positive trends are observed: improving tourist infrastructure, creating new jobs, improving the quality of services provided, etc. Speaking of tourism business, it should certainly be mentioned that it is one of the riskiest types of business activities in the provision of services, as a result of which the number of dangerous situations inherent only in this field of activity increases. Even in the full development of tourism, there are some projects that lead to a failure. This scientific paper aims to address certain research aspects in order to identify factors that lead to the failure of tourism projects. The risk analysis of tourism projects will help us to conclude aspects of the determinant factors of failure. The research method used is a qualitative one and aims to analyze some of the cases of failure in Romania from the post-communist period. As a topic of current interest, this paper will also take into account the possible predispositions for reducing these tourist failures. For the case studies were used the official documents requested from the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism.
