Abstract

In recent years, the use of numerical simulations in the shipping industry has seen a considerable assault. The use of software dedicated to numerical simulations, although they have a high price and require their use on high-performance computers, are still a much cheaper solution as opposed to experimental testing. In the case of less complicated simulations, computers for personal use can also be used to obtain accurate results. In this paper, an overview of numerical simulations in ship design was made. A typical workflow of CFD simulation was also presented, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using these methods.
