Tolerance as a Necessary Condition for the Existence of Multicultural Society in the Danube Region

Abstract

The article attempted to define the essence of tolerance through human rights and freedoms. The genesis of the concept of "tolerance", in our view, coincided with the formation in European countries, civil society institutions and the formation of a free, autonomous personality. 

Tolerance is ideological, moral and psychological characteristics of the individual, which allows it to accept or reject other social and cultural norms within a culture of respect for human rights. From this definition it follows that the basis of the content of human rights, tolerance, which are designed to ensure the freedom and autonomy of the individual as a member of civil society, its legal protection against any unlawful interference.
