The EU Perspective vs U.S Leadership

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the real position of the European Union in the current global system and its ability to be a global superpower with the capacity to challenge or replace the United States. Many scholars have defined the union as a “superpower”, highlighting the growing influence of EU not only in European countries but also in the international community. Doubtless, the European Union remains a major global player which should not be neglected in the economic and financial terms, but can it be a global superpower? What can be sead about its further political integration direction? Researching the literature and documentation we realize that the European Union is mainly a regional power, disposed to act as a partner to the United States, achieving a lasting coexistence.
