Abstract

The diversity of ethnic communities living in the same geographical area does not, in general, generate a peaceful, long-term climate. But there is an exception, which surprises, but also proves that peace is influenced by people, not by land. The phenomenon in Dobrogea is spoken of as a miracle. Dobrogea, the region in the southeast of Romania, between the Danube and the Black Sea, stands out for its rich ethnic diversity, a multicultural mosaic that brings together more than 18 ethnic communities. This unique feature has shaped a vibrant cultural identity where diverse traditions and customs intertwine harmoniously, creating an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect. Among the ethnic communities living in this area are Romanians, Turks, Lipovans, Greeks, Armenians, Ukrainians, Gagauzians, Germans, Serbs, Hungarians. Although ethnically diverse, Dobrogea boasts a long history of peaceful coexistence and interethnic tolerance. The ethnic communities of Dobrogea represent an invaluable cultural treasure, defining the unique identity of the region, and their diversity contributes to the beauty and richness of Dobrogea, making it a fascinating place, both for visitors and for political and social analysts.
