Abstract

The media competence of a modern English teacher encompasses the ability to effectively integrate various forms of media into their teaching practices. This includes traditional media such as books, articles, and essays, as well as newer digital media like websites, podcasts, videos, and social media platforms. It involves: digital literacy: understanding how to navigate and critically evaluate digital media sources; multimodal teaching: incorporating multiple forms of media into lesson plans to cater to diverse learning styles and engage students in different ways; critical media analysis: teaching students how to critically analyze media texts, including written, visual, and digital forms; adaptability and continuous learning: staying updated on new technologies and media trends, and being willing to adapt teaching practices accordingly. Media competence is essential for modern English teachers to effectively prepare students for success in a digital, media-saturated world, equipping them with the skills they need to critically engage with and create media in various forms.
