Abstract

Integrating international migration into local development policies and strategies is an important aspect for the sustainable development of communities. International migration can have a significant impact on local economy, culture and social structures. In this sense, the involvement of Moldovan emigrants, whose potential is not sufficiently exploited, is important. Remittances, knowledge transfer, investment and involvement in community projects are just some of the ways in which migrants contribute to the progress and well-being of their communities. Effective public policies and institutional support are essential to maximize the potential of migrants and ensure their successful reintegration. Thus, in this article we will explore how local development policies and strategies can involve and capitalize on the potential of international migrants in local economic and social development. This process requires an integrated and collaborative approach between central and local governments, civil society and the private sector. By implementing such policies and strategies, migrants can become key actors in promoting sustainable economic and social development in their country of origin.
