Abstract

The interconnection, protection, growth and consolidation of the Danube Region are the pillars that ensure the priority areas of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region. The interconnection of the Danube Region is based on sustainable tourism, which involves cultural aspects and highlights the community relational system of people in the riparian communities, which leads to the recognition of the Danube Region as a European brand. Danube tourism becomes part of the sustainable interconnection and a catalyst for trans-Danube circulation through specific tourist packages - water and land circuits, the development of educational cooperation in the field of tourism, exchanges of experience, the consolidation and development of tourism infrastructure and the protection of natural heritage. The cultural resources of the Danube Region become catalysts for the strategic objectives of the Danube communities and ensure their socio-economic promotion. The promotion of sustainable tourism by ensuring and providing quality services and goods guarantees the development of the Danube as a smart destination and ensures the recognition and need to adopt strategies aligned with European directions.
