Last modified: 2025-06-17
Abstract
This research is devoted to the analysis of the creative achievements of contemporary artists representing the Danube region of Ukraine (Southern Odesa Oblast, Budzhak, Southern Bessarabia) with the focus on the “Frontier Discourse” in its content. The author identifies the following types of mental frontiers based on the analysis of contemporary paintings in this multi-ethnic region: Balkan, Greek, Latin, post-Soviet, and contemporary anti-Russian. The investigation materials are presented by the works of artists who have achieved the recognition at the national level and are the members of the Izmail Municipal Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, which unites the artists from different cities of the region (Izmail, Kilya, Reni, Artsyz, and others).
