Abstract
The relevance of the study is related to the study of aspects of intercultural communication at the regional level for the formation of the linguistic and sociocultural competence of future English and foreign literature teachers in a multi-ethnic region in the Ukrainian region of Budzhak. The author presents the experience of developing higher education students' linguistic and sociocultural competence based on the implementation of project activities by the Department of English Philology and World Literature and the introduction of its results into the educational process at Izmail State University of Humanities. The implemented projects form the ability to teach intercultural competence, to develop the tolerance for other cultures and skills of intercultural dialogue, as well as to deepen the linguistic and sociocultural competence of future specialists. They also strengthen the collective identity of the diverse regional society of southern Odessa through productive intercultural dialogue as an example of the successful implementation of the European idea of a tolerant borderland.
