European Union Strategy for the Danube Region - between Desideratum and Achievements

Abstract
The EU Strategy for the Danube Region initiated by Austria and Romania, few years ago, reflects the territorial dimension of the EU cohesion policy and it was build around the priorities of Europe 2020 Strategy. The implementation of the Danube Strategy, conceived as an instrument meant to help overcome the effects of the global crisis and foster economic growth, needs both the extensive involvement of stakeholders, the launching of new regional projects and an adequate level of EU budget after 2013. The paper is a critical analysis of the concrete results in the implementation of Danube Strategy so far in Romania and the other countries from the Danube Region.
