Abstract
The article is devoted to the specification of the notion “connotation” and “connotative meaning” in the phraseological aspect, in-depth study of the historical evolution of this linguistic phenomenon. The connection and proximity between denotative, significant and connotative meanings are noted, the basic types of the connotative phraseological meanings are marked.
