Abstract

Given the predominant communication on the Internet and the use of new technologies, the knowledge of common terms in the field, as well as the effective use of these technologies, can often become overwhelming. What does Word Wide Web (W.W.W.) mean, URL, source code, object code, computer program, portal, search engine, peer-to-peer (P2P) networks, web-blog, online credibility, electronic harassment, physhing, cyber violence, hacking, etc.? This is why we intend, in the present approach, to clarify some questions regarding the knowledge of the domain and of the terms used, in order to better understand the virtual phenomenon and its forms of manifestation. We aim to present a brief glossary of terms and expressions, with explanations and examples. The documentary material will be subsequently presented to the entire academic community and, in particular, to the students, the priority recipients of the scientific activity.
