Abstract

The paper aims to analyze the extent to and the ways in which history textbooks for high school in Albania make use of digital resources. Drawing on a review of the published sources in Europe and beyond and using evidence from the quantitative and qualitative analysis of textbooks, the paper examines the space devoted to links to digital resources compared to the overall number of sources included in textbooks, the types of digital resources, their reliability and accuracy, their accessibility and age appropriateness, the narrative viewpoints they convey and the competences they aim to develop to students. The findings reveal that a limited number of identified digital resources feature in textbooks, Albanian-language digital learning resources are missing, links to digital resources are generally non age appropriate and no longer available, and digital resources convey either the national or the Eurocentric narrative.
