Abstract

In the current international context, characterized by geopolitical instability, hybrid threats and accelerated transformations of the security environment, the European Union is redefining its security and defense architecture. The objective of this paper is to analyze the importance of European security in the new international context, marked by geopolitical instability, hybrid threats and rapid transformations of the security environment. The paper starts from the recent initiatives of the European Commission regarding the development of a European Defense Union and the strengthening of institutional and societal resilience. The research is based on the observation of recent international events, including regional conflicts, the intensification of cyber attacks, health crises and pressures on the external borders of the European Union. The results of this paper highlight the fact that European security has evolved towards an integrated model, which includes military, cyber, internal and social dimensions. It is found that the European Union is strengthening its deterrence capacity through investments in defense, EU-NATO cooperation, the development of a single defense market and the implementation of common strategies for crisis management and migration. The paper offers a perspective on the transformation of the European Union into a global strategic actor, capable of responding in a coordinated manner to complex threats and ensuring the protection of its citizens. In conclusion, European security is becoming an essential pillar of regional and international stability in the current conditions of global uncertainty.
