Abstract
In this paper we study the works of the great Roman poet Publius Ovidiy Nason, written during his exile on the west coast of the Black Sea. His "The sorrowful elegy" and "Letters from Pontus" is a valuable source of ethno ancient North-Western and Eastern Black Sea region. The undertaken research is aimed at understanding the features of the symbolic world of culture and values of the region.
