Abstract

The national carpet, as well as the ethnic ornament, is one of the main cultural ethnoconcepts and substantial ethnic codes of the Moldavian nation, as well as for a number of other nationalities of the Carpathian-Danubian region. Through ethnocultural and national values, the Moldavians gained strength, will, spiritual balance and moral satisfaction, comprehended the sacred truth and secret knowledge of their ancestors. The implementation of the psychological function confirms the value of ethnic culture as a means of maintaining the spiritual health of society and of each person individually. Combining some foundations, the millennia-old cultural traditions of Moldavians, a social function is achieved first of all, and it should be emphasized that the traditional Moldavian / Bessarabian (ornamental) carpet plays an important role in this aspect of the study. This, of course, is an inexhaustible and endless source of inspiration for many masters and artisans, but also decorators and ceramists (for example, I. Prividyuk, N. Olarescu and O. Koshel). Traditional ornamentation is a special criterion for the cultural identity of the Bessarabian (Moldavian) people.
