Abstract

In the interfluve of the Dniester and the Danube there is the greatest diversity in the national composition of the Odessa region: in addition to the Ukrainian population and Russians, Bulgarians, Moldavians, and Gagauz live here permanently. The region presents both individual bilingualism of various kinds (Russian-Ukrainian, Russian-Bulgarian, Moldavian-Russian, Moldavian-Bulgarian, etc.) and the collective use of these languages. Documentary communication in a multilingual environment in the south of Odesa Oblast also shows signs of polylingualism. The presence of several languages in use affects the system of documentary communication in the region, which is formed under the influence of several factors - the state language policy and the established language situation in the region.
