Abstract

The article deals with Jules Verne's late novel "The Beautiful Yellow Danube", which was significantly revised by his son Michel and published under the title "The Danube Pilot" in 1908. The original version was published only eighty years later. The features of the interpretation of the Danube theme, the originality of the author's manner, the slow rhythm of the narration, as well as the plot sources of Jules Verne are analyzed.
