Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of issues and trends in Maritime English teaching on the basis of synchronic and diachronic approaches. The importance of the presented work lies in the necessity of refreshing knowledge about the latest challenges facing maritime education, especially in teaching Maritime English, after three years of COVID-19 and in digital innovations that are spreading with a lightning speed, influencing all spheres of human activities. Our investigation deals, first of all, with the scientific information presented in the research works in this field. Such analysis provided an opportunity to identify the most popular trends on a certain stage of evolution of Maritime English teaching, current situation and future vectors of its sustainable development.

We singled out the global trends, that are generally based on the industrialization, digitalization, orientation on the stakeholders’ demands, constant actualization of proposed education through the projects, and local trends, that depend on a peculiar situation in a country (in Ukraine, for example, the most recent factor became the continuous war aggression on its territory).
